Whether you realize it or not, your surroundings affect your mind, body, and spirit. Some buildings and rooms evoke a peaceful, positive feeling, while others can evoke stress, depression, or anxiety.

The Chinese practice of Feng Shui addresses this phenomenon. This ancient interior design system provides guidelines for placing and orienting furniture and objects to enhance your personal energy flow.

There are Fung Shui consultants who will help you transform your living space but there are also many things you can do on your own by take a good look at your living space, room by room. (Doing this with a good friend could help you stay objective and proactive).

Things that inhibit good energy flow include:

  • Clutter
  • A misaligned or poorly maintained front door—sticky locks; squeaky hinges.
  • Unkempt landscaping and lawn.
  • Papers, books, or toys scattered all over.
  • Unmade beds.
  • A messy, disorganized kitchen.

Removing even such minor, daily irritations enhances feelings of calm and well-being.

Other easy things you can do to enhance the Feng Shui in your home include:

  • Making the main entrance clutter-free, open, and inviting.
  • Ensuring good air quality—open windows when possible; regularly replace HVAC air filters; and strategically place air-purifying plants.
  • Ensuring good quality light—allow as much natural light into your home as possible and consider using full-spectrum lights.
  • Positioning your bed farthest from the door but where you’re still able to see the doorway and anyone approaching. This enhances feelings of security and peace.
  • Positioning your desk so that you can see who’s coming.

Take steps to reorient furniture, de-clutter, organize, clean, and fix the stuff in your living space and you will begin to understand the feel-good benefits of Feng Shui.

What our Customers Say

Phenonmenal Job for a Picky client

The quality of the work and the people at Sponge and Sparkle are top notch for this busy working single mom.

Great Service for Busy family

With time not on our side during the week, we began using Sponge & Sparkle a couple months ago. Read the reviews on Kudzu, after a friend suggested we use them. So far, going great. I only wish we could clean our house as fast as they do, remarkable! Very nice people to work with.

These cleaners shine!

Walking into my house after Sponge & Sparkle had cleaned it was fantastic! They cleaned every nook and cranny, steamed the cabinets, got the cobwebs from our vaulted ceilings – even set my daughters doll on a pillow with a blanket. These folks care about what they do and it shows! They do a fantastic job, are reliable, honest and a pleasure to work with. My house was a mess and they fixed it!
